Brahmagupta

C.E. 6th century astronomer and mathematician whose work Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta, and Khaṇḍakhādyaka become a prominent work on mathematics. He was a native of Bhinmal. Although zero was known to Indians Brahmagupta further developed the idea to represent it in number system. Computation with zero is explained; addition and multiplication with zero also elaborated. The use of negative number and its multiplication and addition is given in this work. Linear algebra was explained very well in his work and which made him famous. His work was translated to Persian, Arab, Chinese and other foreign languages
