Rukmini was the first wife and queen of Krishna, the 8th avatar of Vishnu. She was an avatar of Lakshmi. She was daughter of Vidharbha king, Raja Bhismak. Ten sons were born of Krishna in Rukmini. They are Pradyumna, Carudeksna, Sudeksna, Carudeha, Sucaru, Carugupta, Bhadiacaru, Carucandra, Aticaru, Caru.

Purana

King Bhismaka of Vidarbha had five sons the eldest of whom was Rukmi. His sixth child was a daughter and she was named Rukmini. Stories about Krishna kindled in Rukmim love for him. Rukmi, who hated Krishna, wanted to give his sister in marriage to Sisupala. Rukmini sent through a Brahmin a message about the affair to Dvaraka. On the day of Rukmini's Svayamvara Rama and Krishna also went to Kundinapuri, capital of Vidarbha and Krishna in the presence of all Kings, carried Rukmini away in his chariot. The Kings who, under the leadership of Rukmi, attacked Krishna were routed.
