1 Aristnemi was a Rishi found referred in Aranyaparva of Mahabharatha. Sumati the wife of king Sagara was his daughter.

2 Arishtanemi was one of the five sons of Vinata and Kashyapa and a brother of Garuda.

3 During the one year life in ajnathavasa (incognito) according the rules set during the game of dice Pandava prince Sahadeva went to king Virata disguised as Vaisya called Aristanemi and got himself appointed as head of the king's dairy. He, in the guise of a dairy-man, used to give milk, butter-milk etc. to the Pandavas.
