Lord of fortune. Also called as Ganesha, Vinayaka, Vigneswara. Ganapati is prayed first in every work auspicious or otherwise. He is instrumental clearing the way for fortune and good luck.

Veda

The Lord of the Mantras. According to Prof. R L Kashyap, Brihaspati and Brahmanspati of samhita is same as Ganapati of the later literature like Brahmanas, Arnyaka, Upanishads and Purnas.

Brahmanaspati is the creator by the Word; he calls light and visible cosmos out of the darkness and speeds the formations of conscious being upward to their supreme goal.

Purana

Son of Siva and Parvati.
