Mother of Bharatha and second wife of King Dasaratha. She was daughter of the King of Kekaya and younger sister of Yudhajit. She is famous in Ramayana for her unfortunate decision to banish Rama from Ayodhya.

Purana

Kaikeyi was actually a good women. She loved Rama as much as her own son Bharatha. It is only because of the coercive technique of her maid Manthara that she asked two boons (making Bharata king and banish Rama for 14 years) from her husband, King Dasaratha.
