Devimatmya is the most prominent daily chanting mantra for Devi devotees. The 700 slokas of Devi Mahtmya ( Chandi Path or Durga Sapthasati ) is divided into 13 chapters is from the large text, Markandeya Purana

Devimatmya is a praise of primordial creator. The hymn often praise Maha Kali , Maha Lakshmi and Maha Sarasvati as the tree gunas of sakara devi. Devimatmya also make praise of the Nirakara aspect of Devi

The great Goddess Chandika was born from the energies provided by other gods like Vishnu, Siva, Indra, Brahma, Agni, Varuna. The united luster of the gods formed a blazed around Ma Chandi and looked like having the light of thousands of suns. Ma Durga is the personification of universal consciousness acting for the protection of natural principle.

To protect the world from the Evil doers, Ma Chandi had killed Mahishasura as well as Shumbha - Nishumbha , Madhu – Kaitabha and other demons

Chanting mantras of Chandika or Durga is like absorbing the lustre of all the gods for treading the ferocious and lonely path of spirituality.
