The Master , A householder. Etymological meaning: one who is performing the Sacrifice.
Yajamana is the master of the Yajna (Vedic sacrifice). the Ritviks or priests are there only to assist him in his performance. Though the priests perform all the ritualistic acts, they receive their dakshina (sacrificial fee) for their labour, thereby Yajamana to attain the fruit of the sacrifice.
It is only the grihastha, the married person was entitled to become a Yajamana in a yaga. The wife(patni) of the Yajamana has got an important role in the Yajna.
In princely yajnas like Rajasuya only kings can become a Yajamana
