Narada was a divine sage who always chanted Narayana mantra in every breath and move in all celestial space with ease. He was regarded as one of the Manasa putra, mind born child of Brahma. In the earlier birth he was the son of a servant maid. Narada was a senior sage and was very much respected among the Kings and the Sage community. Narada wrote the ’Bhati sutra’, which describe the qualities of a real bhakta. He also made contribution in Siksha Sastra of Veda. It was Naradas who advised Vyasa to write Bhagavata purana with exemplary importance to Bhakti, since Vyasa’s work Mahabharata looked more like history and not enough to promote bhakti. His best students were Prahlada, son of Hiranyakashibu and Druva, son of Suneeti. Both of them were devout bhaktas of Vishnu. It is Narada who told the Reigning King Rama’s and his wife Sita’s story in a nutshell to Valmiki and persuaded him to write Ramayana.

Narada was considered as one of the twelve most knowledgeable persons ever existed. He is a trikala Jnani, the one who know past, present and future. There is an Upa-purana bearing his name as ‘Narada purana’. It says, ‘Vena’, the seven-stringed musical instrument was invented by him.
